Fractional laser technology is the latest technique for skin resurfacing. With it we can treat multiple skin conditions during the same session: wrinkles, acne scars, pigmented spots, dilated pores, etc. It improves skin tone and texture. We have even had some success with stretch marks! We often combine fractional resurfacing with other technologies for more impressive results.
Unlike traditional laser resurfacing, only a small portion of the skin is removed during each treatment. Because the majority of the skin remains intact, there is a faster healing time (days instead of months) and better patient comfort. If a deeper or more concentrated treatment is needed, then the recovery time may be one week.
This laser technology creates micro-channels in the skin. This stimulates wound healing and new collagen production. The micro-channels actually eliminate some tissue allowing for the correction of small imperfections. The new collagen plumps up the surrounding skin. Collagen production takes time and you may continue to see improvements in your skin 3 to 6 months after the treatment.
At ICOGNITO we use a Sciton ProFractional XC™ or ProFractional™ (Erbium:YAG) Laser. We often combine the technology with a MicrolaserPeel to achieve the best results. We normally recommend between 3 and 6 sessions depending on what you wish treated. Please give yourself 2 to 4 days after each treatment before resuming your normal activities and work. Like all laser treatments sun protection is critical! We will explain in detail to you the appropriate aftercare following your treatment.
