The nose is the defining feature of the face. It has an equally important breathing function. Its’ shape depends on genetics and may change over time with age or following an injury.
There is no “ideal” nose however it should be proportional to your face. During your consultation, we will carefully analyze your nose: the bone structure, the cartilage, its width, length and projection, nostril size and shape etc. We will identify the goals of your particular operation which in general include: reducing any humps along the bridge of the nose, refining and turning up the nasal tip and, reducing the size and length of the nose.
Rhinoplasty procedures are frequently performed under local anaesthesia but may also be conducted under general anaesthesia. It may be performed “closed” through hidden incisions within the nostril or “open”, involving an incision across the columella. The operation may require manipulating the nasal bones. All this will be discussed with you in detail during your consultation.

In general, rhinoplasty is well tolerated. It may take several months before the final result is seen. “Less is best”. It is better to aim for a subtle change. Radical operations can have a dramatic effect on the bone structure leading to undesirable results.
